Presentation May 2026
I was invited to present at the interdisciplinary conference "Mass Atrocities, Environmental Degradation, and Communities' Rights", taking place from 18-21 May 2026 in Dundee, Scotland, organised by the Congress of Nations and States (CNS), the Dundee Just Transition Hub, and the University of Stirling. My presentation did not take place due to me being hospitalised.
‘The UN has a blindspot: the risk of omnicide presented by Advanced AI’
International criminal legal frameworks omit omnicide - the extinction of human and animal life. Yet omnicide is a plausible outcome of rapidly advancing AI development. In surveys, between 38-and 51% of experts gave at least 10% chance to Advanced AI causing catastrophic outcomes. Every individual possesses inviolable rights to life and security yet their lives depend on responsible AI stewardship. They have not provided consent for this existential gambling. Nations and States can petition the UN to create binding legal frameworks holding actors criminally liable for recklessly imposing species-level extinction risks without democratic authorisation or proven safety measures.
